QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON COVID-19 AND MY HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN:
We understand your concerns with regards to COVID-19. See clarification below for coverage on your Guardian Life health plan:
What should I do if a family member or myself have symptoms of COVID-19?
Call your healthcare professional immediately to arrange a medical review. They will determine if testing is necessary and you will be guided accordingly.
Is COVID-19 testing covered by my health insurance plan?
If a medical review is done by a healthcare professional, it will be covered in accordance with your current health plan benefits. If the healthcare professional suspects COVID-19, the patient would be referred to The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) who the Minister of Health has stated is the only authorised institution that can conduct testing and make that determination. There is no charge to the patient for this and should the test be positive they would be quarantined at a government facility which would again not have a charge.
Where there is a confirmed case of COVID-19, members must follow the procedures established by their government officials regarding prevention protocols, treatment and safety measures.
