More than 60 young persons between the ages of 17 and 21 years received a charge to “ignite your purpose” at Guardian Group’s First Steps programme. The 2024 edition of the training and internship programme was launched at Guardian Group’s Head Office in Westmoorings on Monday 8th July, 2024.

Ian Chinapoo, Group Chief Executive Officer, Guardian Group challenged participants to take control of their purpose with the appropriate balance of passion and the right attitude.

“You can’t have purpose without passion to pursue your aspirations, and having the right attitude is key. Gratitude, respect and humility are attitudes that facilitate growth and success as you navigate paths filled with opportunities and challenges.”

I encourage you to value workplace respect—for your peers, toward those who enable your craft, to the teams you are part of. Your learning continues beyond school into the workplace and you’ll soon learn that you cannot do it all yourself,” said Ian Chinapoo.

The programme is open to the dependents and family of Guardian Group’s employees and provides participants with an introduction to the world of work. It aims to promote a purpose-driven approach to engaging in the workplace and introduces concepts such as customer excellence, money management, culture, technology, self-management, and psychological safety.

First Steppers will be assigned to various units across Guardian Group as part of a 6-week internship, which will run from 22nd July to 30th August, 2024
