Guardian Group joins Shaka Hislop in Giving Back to Youth

Ayesha Boucaud-Claxton, Group Head Marketing and Communication, Guardian Group (second from left) joined former national footballer Shaka Hislop (third from right) to distribute football and basketball gear to four police youth clubs on Saturday 12th October, 2024. Guardian Group officials and former Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop, distribute uniforms and basketballs on Saturday 12th October, 2024 to the IATF Academy Youth Club during training at the Beetham Gardens Sports Facility. 

Guardian Group officials, former Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop and members of the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service’s Hearts and Minds visit the Oropune Police Youth Club on Saturday 12th October, 2024 to distribute football gear and uniforms.


Guardian Group and Shaka Hislop are investing in youth through sport. As part of its corporate social responsibility, Guardian Group partnered with noted sports broadcaster and former Trinidad and Tobago national goalkeeper, Shaka Hislop, to provide sporting gear to deserving young persons in Beetham Gardens, Oropune Gardens and La Horquetta on Saturday 12th October, 2024.  

Through Hislop’s Second Half Sport Foundation based in the United States, gently used cleats, footballs, shin guards, basketballs and uniforms are collected from clubs and individuals and shipped to Trinidad and Tobago. The items are donated to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s community outreach programme - ‘Hearts and Minds’ - to be distributed to clubs in many of Trinidad and Tobago's underserved communities.

‘Hearts and Minds’, aims to engage the youth in positive activity. In addition to playing sport, students are encouraged to maintain a solid academic performance at school. The equipment and uniforms donated support training as well as foster camaraderie and a sense of teamwork and belonging among the groups.
